| Product Stewardship Australia (PSA) is a
not-for-profit, industry-led organisation that will help
recover and recycle electronic and electrical products in
an environmentally
sound manner.
PSA is a membership based organisation established
to develop and deliver appropriate solutions for end-of-life
(or obsolete)
electronic and electrical products on behalf of its members.
Similar groups overseas are sometimes referred to as ‘Producer
Responsibility Organisations’. Several members from
the Consumer Electronics Suppliers Association initially
created PSA, however current PSA members represent approximately
70 per cent of volume (TVs) supplied into the Australian
market.
PSA is governed by a foundation Board of directors
representing consumer electronics companies committed to
environmentally
sound management. The current board is comprised of representatives
from member companies such as LG Electronics Australia, Panasonic Australia,
Sanyo Oceania, Sharp Corporation of Australia and Sony Australia. The PSA
Board is supported by part-time Executive Officer, Mr John Gertsakis,
who is also a Senior Sustainability Associate with global energy and sustainability consultants - WSP Environmental.
